Pediatric Providers

The physicians and nurse practitioners at NSP work as a team. We
follow the same treatment principles and guidelines, and meet weekly to
discuss our patients' needs. You should feel comfortable
scheduling with any of our providers.

Dr. Michael K. Levine, a board certified pediatrician, is an Honors graduate of Tufts College and Tufts University School of Medicine. His pediatric training was at the New England Medical Center where he was chief resident in pediatrics at the Boston Floating Hospital for Infants and Children. He has been chairman of Pediatrics at Northside Hospital and has developed specific interests in adolescent medicine, child abuse, marital and family problems, attention deficit disorders and related school problems. He has served as president of the Medical/Dental staff of Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, has contributed many articles to the medical literature, is a regular guest on radio talk shows and television concerning children and their health, and was chairman of the Public Relations Committee in Georgia for the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was an original board member of Quality Care Providers, Inc. (QCPI), the Blue Choice network of physicians, and repeatedly has been named one of Atlanta's outstanding physicians by Atlanta Magazine.

Dr. Jonathan D. Winner, a board certified pediatrician, received his medical degrees from the University of Iowa and his pediatric training at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He established Northside Hospital's intensive care nursery and served as its first chairman. He has been chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Northside and also was chairman of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Committee there for many years. He is particularly interested in the care of children with learning disabilities including attention disorders. He has served on the executive board of the Learning Disability Association of Georgia, and currently is a consultant to several private schools which serve the learning disabled. Recently he was instrumental in the formation of the Nurse Advice Line at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.

 Dr. Ruth C. Brown, a board certified pediatrician, graduated summa cum laude from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed her pediatric training at Emory University School of Medicine where she served as chief resident. Prior to joining Northside Pediatrics in 1982, she provided pediatric care for mentally and physically handicapped children in the Atlanta area. She is a member of the staff of Northside and Scottish Rite hospitals. Dr. Brown has served in many leadership roles in the medical community, including being elected President of the Medical Staff of Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. Her honors include the Wood Lovell Award, the Miracle Maker Award and the Special Achievement Award from the GA Academy of Pediatrics. She is the mother of two grown children.

Dr. Wendy H. Greenberg, a board certified pediatrician, is a native Georgian and a graduate of Emory University. She attended medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and took her residency training at the University of Maryland. She is on staff at Scottish Rite Hospital and Northside Hospital and served as past Chairman of Pediatrics at Northside Hospital. She is previous chairman of an obesity committee for the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is currently on the Obesity Task Force of GA and the Obesity Action Network.  She is also Chairman of the Health Committee at the Epstein School. Her personal interest is primary preventive medicine, including cardiovascular health, drug and alcohol prevention and teenage pregnancy.

Dr. William Robert Smith, Jr., a board certified pediatrician, is a native of Georgia. He graduated from Davidson College magna cum laude and attended Emory University School of Medicine where he also completed his pediatric training. Dr. Smith most recently served as Director of the Department of Medicine at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Scottish Rite campus, and he remains active in medical staff leadership at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Smith has also served as chair of the Quality Assurance committee of Kidsfirst, an organization representing over 35 Atlanta pediatric practices. Under Dr. Smith's leadership the Quality Assurance committee developed pediatric practice guidelines and standardized checkup forms for Atlanta-area practices. He maintains particular interests in the areas of asthma and developmental and learning problems.

Dr. Sally J. Marcus, a board certified pediatrician, was in private practice in the Marietta area for ten years before joining Northside Pediatrics in 1996. She attended medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, Duke University for Pediatric Internship and Emory University for Pediatric Residency. Dr. Marcus currently serves on the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) EPIC Physician Oversight Committee and EPIC Ambulatory Care Committee, both of which are working to implement electronic medical records in the CHOA system. She is also a member of the CHOA Nurse Advice Line committee, is active in the Children's Worship Committee at Sandy Springs Christian Church and serves as "Silver Award Advisor" for her daughter's Girl Scout troop. Dr. Marcus's special interests include breast-feeding, early child development, preventive medicine and asthma.

Dr. Allison B. Hill, a board certified pediatrician, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Georgia. She attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine and graduated with high honors, including the Hugh E. Dempsey award for superior academic achievement. Dr. Hill did her pediatric training at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She serves on the Newborn Services committee at Northside Hospital. Her areas of interest include early childhood development, infectious disease, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Jennifer M. Zubler, a board certified pediatrician, is a native of upstate New York. She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of both the State University of New York and the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. She finished her pediatric residency training program at Buffalo Graduate Medical/Dental Conservatory and has been the recipient of numerous academic awards, plus a special award for demonstrating compassion for patients in primary care. She is on staff at Scottish Rite and Northside Hospitals and currently serves on the newborn services committee at Northside Hospital. Her areas of special interest include adolescent medicine, preventative medicine and early childhood development.

 Dr. Amy J. Hardin, a native of Ohio and a board certified pediatrician, has been a pediatrician since 1990 in the North Atlanta area.  She is an honors graduate of Ohio State University and did her pediatric training at Emory University where she was chief resident. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, The Physician's Alliance, and the Cobb Area Pediatric Society. She has also served on Egleston's Formulary Committee and on Prudential's Asthma Practice Guidelines Committee. Her areas of special interest include preventive medicine, asthma and infectious diseases.  She is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, and is an active volunteer at her children's school, St. Joseph Catholic School in Marietta.

Dr. Jeffrey C. Hopkins, a board certified pediatrician, completed his pediatric residency at Emory University in Atlanta, where he also earned his undergraduate degree. He earned his medical degree at The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL. Dr. Hopkins was born and raised in Rockville, MD. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and currently serves as a Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics for Emory University. Dr. Hopkins also serves on the Quality Improvement Board for Northside Hospital. In addition he is a frequent lecturer throughout the city on newborn baby care. His areas of special interest include early childhood development, asthma and infectious diseases. He lives in Sandy Springs with his wife Cindy and their sons Jared and Will.

Nancy A. Ilgenfritz, R.N., B.S.N., M.N., C.P.N.P., many of you will recognize from both offices where she has worked the last seven years. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After several years as a staff nurse/charge nurse at Egleston Children's Hospital, she went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Emory University with a master's degree in child health. Her post graduate work and certificate as a Certified Nurse Practitioner was completed at Georgia State University. She is a local and national member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau (a national nursing honor society). Her previous experience includes positions as a supervisor of the Ambulatory Clinic at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, Coordinator of the Emory Department of Medical Genetics Newborn Screening Program, and pediatric nursing instructor at Georgia State University. Nancy is married and has 3 children.

Sara Dorsey, M.S.N., C.P.N.P., is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. While working as a Registered Nurse in the Children's Emergency Room, she graduated from Georgia State with a Master's of Science degree in Child Health. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Sara, her husband and three children, live in Woodstock.
